Kingsgate Hotel Paihia offers a memorable waterfront location, just 100 metres from Paihia wharf. The hotel offers views across the Bays brilliant blue sea and out to Russell. Facilities were as published, even though in mid of upgrading. Staffs were super friendly.

Boasting a bar and a restaurant, Ahipara Bay Motel is situated in Ahipara and features panoramic views up 90 Mile Beach. Nice couple running it, dinner was great, just walk upstairs great food, excellent view.

Host Dave was very nice and helpful, prompt in all communication and we felt welcome. Breakfast was very good and my gluten-free diet was noted, which I really appreciate as that isn’t nearly always clear. Our room was very spacious, had french doors and a view to a medow. Closeby Whangarei is a nice little town for a stroll, the interesting Hundertwasser gallery and even a visit to a waterfall.
